Trusted AI and sovereign cloud: turning trust into an edge

Why AI in digital services only works when customers trust it, what makes AI trustworthy and what role the sovereign cloud it runs on plays.

A robotic hand and a human hand reaching towards a glowing sphere of digital connections

Not long ago, artificial intelligence was a lab experiment. Today it sits inside everyday digital services: the assistant answering questions on a website, the system suggesting products, the tool summarizing cases for the customer service team, the application helping designers produce drafts and prototypes in half the time.

The more AI becomes part of the experience, the more customers and employees ask a question, even if they never say it out loud: can I trust it? Where does the data I enter go, who reads it, under which rules? The answer depends not only on the model you choose, but also on the infrastructure you run it on.

Trust has become part of the experience

For years, digital experience was measured in speed, simplicity and design. AI adds a new ingredient: trust. A user who worries about their data shares less information, uses smart features less and drops out sooner. A user who feels protected does the opposite, and AI can genuinely help them.

Regulation points the same way:

  • GDPR requires you to know where personal data is processed and to protect it appropriately, including data that flows through an AI system;
  • the AI Act (EU Regulation 2024/1689) introduces transparency obligations: since 2 August 2026, among other things, people must know when they are interacting with an artificial intelligence system, such as a chatbot;
  • the NIS2 directive, for organizations within its scope, makes supplier security, cloud included, a responsibility of management.

In other words, compliance is not a brake on innovation: it defines the boundaries within which innovation can grow without surprises.

What makes AI trustworthy

“Trusted AI” is not a marketing label. You can recognize it by a few concrete features:

  • Transparency: users know when they are dealing with an automated system and what happens to their information.
  • Governed data: you know which data the model uses, where it comes from, where it is stored and for how long.
  • Auditability: requests, answers and access are logged, so that an error or incident can be reconstructed.
  • Human oversight: for decisions that matter, there is always a person who reviews and approves.
  • Security: models, documents and logs are protected like any other critical system.

Almost all of these features are about data. And that is where infrastructure comes in.

Where AI runs matters as much as the model

An AI-based service does not only process what the user types. It also handles the company documents used to give answers context, conversation histories, activity logs and, if the model is fine-tuned, training data. Often this is the most valuable information you have: contracts, procedures, customer data.

If all of this passes through services whose location and jurisdiction you do not know, governing it becomes difficult. The risk is not theoretical: it is the same mechanism that fuels shadow AI, with company data leaving the perimeter without any control.

A sovereign cloud changes the picture. When models and data stay in a data center you choose, in the European Union and subject to European law, you can:

  • personalize with more confidence, because sensitive data never leaves the environment you control;
  • prove where the data is and who has access to it, during audits or when customers ask;
  • switch models or providers without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Proximity as a value

Global providers are huge. A cloud provider close to you, however, offers something different that matters in the digital experience:

  • lower latency, because the infrastructure is close to users: real-time responses, such as those of an assistant or a design tool, feel smoother;
  • people who speak your language and know your country’s rules;
  • local context: services built for the market you operate in better reflect your customers’ needs.

AI as an ally, not a replacement

AI’s greatest value is not replacing people but freeing them from repetitive work. In teams that design digital services, for example, AI helps to:

  • produce prototypes and variants quickly;
  • explore more options before choosing the right one;
  • automate routine tasks, leaving more room for strategy.

The same applies to customer service, administration and sales. But the benefits only last if AI runs on secure, governed infrastructure: otherwise the time saved today is paid for tomorrow with an incident or a fine.

Where to start: five questions

  1. Which digital services already use AI, officially or not?
  2. What data do they process, and where is it processed and stored?
  3. Do users know when they are interacting with an AI system?
  4. Are requests and access logged and stored securely?
  5. If you wanted to change model or provider tomorrow, could you do it without losing your data?

If you cannot answer any of these questions, that is the place to start.

The 7dCloud infrastructure

With 7dCloud GPU you can run artificial intelligence models on the same sovereign infrastructure as 7dCloud Flexy:

  • you choose the data center, including in the European Union, and your data stays there;
  • you use dedicated or fractional GPUs, based on the actual workload;
  • you protect access with private networks, firewall and multi-factor authentication;
  • you automate management with API, Terraform and Ansible;
  • you rely on a 99.999% SLA, certified data centers and 24/7 monitoring and support.

In short

In today’s digital services, AI only really works when people trust it. Trust comes from clear rules, transparency and human oversight, but also from a concrete choice: running models and data on infrastructure you control, close to you and subject to European law.
